Clover Bar Hockey Program History

The Clover Bar Hockey Program came into existence in 2006 when Al Nelson brought the first ever program to Clover Bar Junior High. The program was designed to allow those passionate about the sport of hockey to pursue their individual goals while in an academic environment in the Sherwood Park & Strathcona County area. It was and still is a skill based program where individuals build and excel at improving their skills through a hockey curriculum designed to meet their needs as athletes. The program began with around 20 students in a grade 9 only class to today where we offer the Hockey Program for grade 7, 8 & 9, both male and female and have room for upwards of 50 students per grade.

Over the years Clover Bar Hockey Program has had various people from not only Elk Island Public Schools be involved, but former professional athletes who have given back to our program. Clover Bar's hockey program has helped developed students and athletes to reach heights that we as a program are extremely proud of. That level has been anything from NHL and Jr on the ice, but inside the classroom to Universities and Colleges, and also giving back in the coaching community through various clubs and teams.
